How to Prevent iTunes autosync of my iPod?

When using MediaWidget Easy iPod Transfer to to transfer music directly from iPod to iTunes, some users may be concerned that their ipod will auto-sync, and delete their music library.

There are two common ways to prevent your ipod or iphone from auto-sync'ing with iTunes.

Changing Settings to Prevent iTunes autosync with iPod [Recommended]:
The first is the safest way, and least likely to cause problems.  But if you want to return to auto-sync, you will need to remember to reverse the steps.

1: Disconnect your iPod
2: Open itunes
3: select EDIT>PREFERENCES
4: From the Window that Opens Select DEVICES
5: Check the box that says PREVENT IPOD AND IPHONES FROM AUTOMATICALLY SYNCING



Manually Preventing iTunes Autosync with iPod using keyboard shortcuts:
1: Connect your iPod to the connector cable, but do not connect to PC
2: Open iTunes
3: hold down the SHIFT+CTRL keys (CMD+OPTION keys on a Mac)
4: connect your ipod to your computer while continuing to hold down the keys identified in step 4
5:continue to hold down the keys from step 4 until the iPod appears in iTunes and says "safe to disconnect"
6: this can take up to 25 seconds
7: your ipod is connected without having autosync'd
